The Connacht Badminton Team secured Silver at the Interprovincial Championships on Sunday 4th April 2011 in Baldoyle Badminton Centre, Dublin. Connacht beat Munster and Ulster - but lost to Leinster.

The Connacht Senior Team was primarily made up of members of the badminton section of the Sligo Tennis Club - but also included members from clubs in Counties Galway and Roscommon.

This is the first time that Connacht has secured a placed position at this tournament, which is vigorously contested by all the regions.  The team's success can be attributed to the team members' incredible enthusiasm; the fact that the team included high performance and international standard players (namely Mark Dolan, Jonathan Dolan and David Walsh).  The success is also due to the Connacht Branch entering young players in the Inter Pros seven years ago.

Connacht also entered teams at Under 13, 15,and 17 levels, including Sligo players Nessan Leydon, Clionna Mc Gowan, Fionnula Scanlon, Micheal Hannon, Conor Caheny and Irish under 15 player, Conor Scanlon.
